Who we are
A course designed directly with companies in the sector, to give you all the theoretical and practical basis in a modern and dynamic field of study, between biology and chemistry, economics and statistics. A multidisciplinary approach that will allow you to customize your study plan, choosing the fields of application in which you want to specialize: plant, industrial, health, veterinary. Laboratory practice and the 350-hour internship for all students (which you will also be able to carry out at external companies and institutions, or even abroad) will allow you to obtain professionalism and technical skills that can be spent in the world of work and research. The three-year degree course in Biotechnology has been active since the 1999/2000 academic year. The Degree Course is organised over 3 years, granting 180 credits necessary to obtain the degree. A graduate in Biotechnology from the University of Parma must have an adequate basic knowledge of biological systems, interpreted in a molecular and cellular key; s/he possesses the cultural and experimental bases of the multidisciplinary techniques that characterise biotechnological operations for the production of goods and services through the analysis and use of biological systems; s/he can acquire the disciplinary methods necessary in real-life situations with appropriate knowledge of regulations and deontological and bioethical issues; s/he knows how to effectively use, in written and oral form, at least one language of the European Union, other than Italian, in the specific field of competence and for the exchange of general information; s/he possesses adequate skills and tools for communication and information management; s/he is able to draw up technical-scientific reports and work in a team, to operate autonomously and to fit readily into work environments.
